Grand Slam Committee vs Adidas
In 2006, Adidas issued a legal challenge against the International Tennis Federation and the four Grand Slam Tournaments claiming alleged infringements of EC law due to a ruling from the Grand Slam Committee that Adidas’ three stripe design was to be considered a manufacturer’s logo. Professor Simon Chadwick was called as an Expert Witness in the case, while Dr Geoff Walters provided research assistance on behalf of the Grand Slam Committee in their legal defence against Adidas. The research involved compiling an objective research report based on consumer identification of sportswear logos and designs.
