Birkbeck’s Sean Hamil discusses sport integrity with Financial Times

“It is an absolutely fundamental issue – it is not going to go away”

Birkbeck Sport Business Centre’s Sean Hamil comments on the issues of integrity and ethics in sport, issues to have been underlined in the latest and perhaps the biggest doping scandal conducted by once-a-hero Lance Armstrong.

Sean Hamil urges sport governing bodies to rigidly combat all threats to the integrity of competitions, particularly as much more money is at stake today, as the growth in the value of live sports rights shows.

Recently, Birkbeck’s Andy Harvey has been granted funding for research into match fixing in professional football in Europe as the research is supported by Sean Hamil, one of Birkbeck Sport Business Centre’s Co-Directors.
