Room 1.02 - Malet Place Engineering Building,
London WC1E 6BT
Tuesday 28th November 2006 at 6pm
Given by:
Mark Roberts
Senior Consultant, Sports Business Group, Deloitte
Synopsis:
In this seminar Mark will discuss how sports organisations, and in particular football clubs, can develop their stadia as revenue generators for their organisations. In doing so he will explore the key trends in stadium and facilities investment in recent years, notably the move of Manchester City FC to the The City of Manchester Stadium which had been constructed for the 2002 Commonwealth Games. Critically, he will assess the reasons why many stadia constructed for prestige international sporting events such as the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup have subsequently become economic white elephants and how this might have been avoided. He will conclude by offering some insights into the prospects for the new Wembley stadium and Arsenal Football Club's new Emirates Stadium venue, and outlining some likely trends in terms of best practice development in the area of stadia investment and management.
