John Holmes is Chairman/CEO of SFX Europe, one o f Europe’s leading sports client management agencies, representing many of Europe ‘s top sports stars and broadcasters including Michael Owen, Jonny Wilkinson, Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, Steven Gerrard, Martin Johnson and Gabby Logan . Through the company’s network of 11 licensed FIFA agents, SFX manages around 100 professional footballers, undertaking contract negotiations, and creation & evaluation of endorsement, promotional and business opportunities. John is a regular contributor to newspapers, television and radio and helped to conceive original television programmes, such as the BBC’s popular quiz show They Think It’s All Over . He is recognised as one of the pioneers of professional sports agency in Europe and in the football industry.
In this lecture John will be presenting a review of the development of sports agency in the UK and Europe drawing on his thirty years of experience in the sector. He will also discuss some of the current challenges facing sports agency, and present some scenarios for the sector’s future development.
