Synopsis

Jamie Magraw joined the FA in 2000 to determine whether the FA could improve financial standards within the game. This resulted in the FA Financial Advisory Unit (FAU) being established in March 2000. To date the FAU, comprising a staff of 5, has visited over 300 Clubs.

In August 2002 he became the Finance Director of the FA. He left the FA in September 2003 to establish a number of companies.

Whilst in the FA he managed and led numerous investigations of both clubs and transfers. He also led the English pilot team in reviewing and drafting the UEFA license, which will impact all clubs wishing to play European football.

Prior to his time in the FA Jamie had worked in the following companies – Coopers & Lybrand (where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant), Dexter Inc, Guinness PLC, Perkins Diesel and a start-up/turnaround company. In that time he has worked in the USA, Cameroon, Nigeria, France, Belgium, Switzerland and Portugal.

In his lecture Jamie will provide an overview of the differences between the operation of he football industry in England with other industries.
