In December 2012 the European Olympic Committee announced the launch of the Europeans Games, as the final continental games to be initiated after the Asian Games, the Pan-American Games, All-Africa Games and Pacific Games.

This summer will see Baku, Azerbaijan, host the first edition of the European Games that brings together international athletes and ambassadors from 30 sport disciplines. As such there are great challenges and opportunities in developing and delivering a world class event for the first time. This includes building a world class team, developing local talent and integrating this with an international workforce that is required to build a global brand and infrastructure from the ground up. This is a massive and undertaking challenge that needs to secure a legacy and build the foundations for the future of the European Games. As head of Human Resources (HR) Nicola has been central to developing the teams both internationally and locally in Baku to create a structure to ensure the delivery of a world class event. A hugely exciting and challenging task, she has a unique and insightful perspective on what it takes to deliver the games on this scale and with its unique challenges.
