I chose the MSc at Birkbeck as it was the one course that ticked all the boxes on my list of requirements; not only did it have the course content that mixed general sport with a specific reference to football, but the academic reputation of Birkbeck and the Sport Business Centre as well.

The year I spent at Birkbeck was invaluable as it allowed me to broaden my knowledge of business related issues that were specific to sport. Whilst intense and challenging, it provided me with an ideal environment in which to grow, not only academically, but also personally. I found it to be an exceptionally supportive and friendly atmosphere where students were encouraged to prosper and challenge one another as well as themselves. The programme was in-depth, and provided a solid foundation in Sport Management with the optional modules to cater for the developing interests of the students.

On a personal note, the MSc has been a fabulous spring-board as it enabled me to gain an internship at The FA. My internship led to a permanent role in The FA’s Financial Regulation department where I was responsible for ensuring Rules and Regulations governing Agents, The FA Third Party Investment in Players Regulations and Player Transfers were adhered to. I am currently working at Wycombe Wanderers in the role of Club & Company Secretary where I am part of the senior team and responsible for managing all day to day football matters as well as match day operations.
